Minecraft for Windows install "error"

Trying to install Minecraft for Windows from the Minecraft Launcher just shows the word "error" at the bottom with no further explanation.  Doing some searching, I found this issue a lot in the bug tracker and that it has been going on for a while but none of the fixes I found have helped.

 

Running on Windows 11 Pro,  Attempted fixes that failed:

restart launcher

restart windows

reinstall launcher

update Windows

log out and login again (all using microsoft account not old mojang account)

check windows settings if new apps installed to C:\ drive

settings>apps>apps and features>minecraft launcher>advanced options>repair, then reset

same done to gaming services (repair and reset)

open microsoft store>library>"get updates"

open "Run" and execute wsreset

 

The game installed perfectly fine on my other computer running Windows 10 Pro but not on the new computer running windows 11.

 

Fix that resolved the issue:  go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices/ and remove some old devices

Would be very helpful if error codes were posted with each error.  with a lot of work/searching/discord help i found the error code was :0x803f81f5
