Minecraft launcher ininitely updating

When I open up the launcher, the launcher has the usual pop up window it would have when updating, but it infinitely updates and the launcher itself never opens up. I have waited even longer, about 10 minutes but nothing happened. I restarted myself, reinstalled the launcher, and checked that I had enough storage for any updates and I had well over 30 gb.
