No access due to region settings

I recently purchased minecraft but when i installed the launcher and logged in i received an error message in the top right corner stating: "There may be a problem with your account region settings that could impact your ability to access your games. For information on how to update these settings, visit our support page" and i have tried to read around on the page recommended and changed my region settings but it still doesn't work, it also still shows the "buy now" button in the launcher.
