Playing old versions causes funky corrupted textures with Nvidia GPUs

Playing certain old versions, notably from 1.8 to 1.12.2 causes weird corrupted textures on the latest Nvidia game-ready drivers. This seems to be a compatibility related issue with the official launcher as using third party launchers like PrismLauncher or using Nvidia studio drivers fixes the bug.
