when trying to load 1.8.9 pop up says "Sorry, unable to start Minecraft."

so when i try run Minecraft 1.8.9 it says "Sorry, unable to start Minecraft." then just indefinably loads. this does not happen on 1.19.2. i tried the beta version still did not. i am on opensuse tumbleweed, and kde is my DE.
