Launcher is not letting me press Play

When I try to press Play in the Minecraft Launcher, at the bottom of the launcher it says something went wrong and we couldn't connect you to Minecraft services. Then it starts to glitch between two things:

1. It says "Whoops! Sorry something went wrong connecting to our servers. Please try again later, and if the error persists, you can report a bug"
2. The second thing that pops up says "Enter a username for Minecraft: Java Edition".

It glitches back and forth between both of these two pop ups.

If you can help me that would be greatly appreciated.
