The minecraft for windows is no longer compatible with my launcher, even though it was less than 15 hours ago, and when trying to install the "updated" launcher the installer got stuck at "starting installation" for over 30 minutes

Last night I was playing the "minecraft for windows" edition on my computer, after logging off I let my computer auto-update, and when I woke up this morning to continue playing it said that my launcher was no longer compatible with the minecraft for windows edition, I also had to relog into my launcher three times before it actually let me load the launcher. I then looked up the "updated" and compatible launcher, which I installed when "minecraft for windows" was released, downloaded and started the install process, which then got stuck at "starting installation" for over half an hour with no progress. I restarted my computer multiple times to see if it was a bug with my computer, still no progress.
