Launcher won't connect to minecraft services

When I open the launcher, it prompts me to sign in to my live account (though the thumbnail is not shown). Then when it's loaded, it gives me the message "Oh no! Something went wrong, and we couldn't connect to the minecraft services" and prompts me to "try again" to no avail. I own both windows and java minecraft, but I cannot get java to work as it prompts me to buy it again. See pictures attached, and HELP! Thanks!
