Minecraft Launcher fails to update and does not function at all

I play on a MacBook on macOS Sierra 10.12.6. Every time I click the launcher, it bounces once and stops running completely. When I go to the launcher log, two errors stand out to me

[Warning: 2022-04-25 00:28:15.860856: LauncherConfiguration.cpp(113)] Failed to get clientToken from configuration, launcher updater will fall back to using stable versions instead of controlled experiment versions.

Error: 2022-04-25 00:28:16.160820: [mainOSX.cpp.mm Updater failed for some reason... exiting with error.

I have tried every available solution, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game two or three times now, and it still gives me the exact same error eventually. It appears this might be a software issue, as other people are reporting the same bugs on here, but I'm still not entirely sure what to do in this situation.
