downloaded java edition on the launcher says play demo

in the minecraft launcher linked to my microsoft account, the java edition play button reads play demo. yet I have it installed and downloaded to the rightful account. many times I've clicked buy now and downloaded it but it has not worked. I have my playstore linked to the same account as well. this occurred only after the conversion of mojang to microsoft accounts.
