java is gone and i can only play bedrock

i had downloaded java and bedrock a year back and now i played java today and a popup had come up saying i had to update the launcher, i did and now i can't play java, java has no where to be seen and when i load up the minecraft launcher bedrock suddenly appears after a year of not being able to play it
