Minecraft Launcher Cannot Connect to Mojang Server

I have not been playing Minecraft on my Mac for the last few months (which worked fine back then). However when I logged into my Minecraft launcher on my Mac a few days ago, it seems to always say this when i try to launch the game: 

Failed to download file.

Error details: Couldn't download manifest of Java runtime versions

No matter what Wifi i use, it always seems to give me this error and says that i cannot connect to the mojang servers. On my Windows PC, Minecraft and launcher works fine, but on my Mac it just doesnt work. (Also I have already restarted my laptop for a few times already and reinstalled Minecraft launcher for at least 5 times but it still doesnt seem to work)
