i paid to change my gamertag it shows up on my microsoft account, but not in actual minecraft

so i paid for a new gamer tag about like a week ago. i have both the bedrock version, and the java version. then i looked to see my gamertag to see if it changed on both versions, but the gamertag only changed on the bedrock version and not java!? i really want to figure out how to get my new gamertag on java aghh.
