Minecraft Launcher wont open up [macOS]

When I open my Minecraft Launcher, it will not do anything. The launcher icon will not jump up and down, wont launch anything, and wont do any animation. The way I go around this is by opening Activity Monitor (macOS version of Task Manager), I search Minecraft, and need to force quit the application. When I do this, the Launcher opens as normal and has all animations as it should. When I load up the game, play for a while, then quit the game; the launcher again will not open up. I know I could theoretically play by always doing this, but it's a hassle and it's not normal. (As you can see in the image attached; minecraft is in red, but it's usually white when the game is actually open.
