Minecraft launcher doesn't work/crashes

I was trying to play demo Minecraft to see the game but it didn't work I clicked play demo but when the processing bar went full the launcher just disappeared each time I tried it didn't work. wonder if I get java probably will do the same.
also i dont know what affects version/s is.
