Launcher will not save changes made to load directory

I have two storage drives installed in my computer, My Minecraft data is stored on the secondary drive, and I've already made the changes to the profiles through the launcher. After the changes are made, the game launches properly and allows me to access my worlds, but once i close out my game, i have to make the same changes to the load directory again the next time i open minecraft. Even if i hit "Save Changes" the game reverts to default once it is closed.
