Launcher keeps crashing when I try to play Minecract 1.12.2

I recently got a new laptop and I wanted to do a Minecraft roleplay with my friend but the mode pack i need to download is in 1.12.2 so when i went to run the game before I can install forge to get the mod pack i need to play minecraft 1.12.2 and every time i try to rin it in the minecraft launcher it crashed
