The authentication servers are currently down for maintenance.

Basically I recently got Minecraft and I'm trying to play the servers but it says "The authentication servers are currently down for maintenance" Which is really annoying since I spent a decent amount of money on the game. The thing is its not just the servers because my friends game works so imp just thinking what could be wrong.
