Optifine doesn't launch with alternate jre

Steps to reproduce: 

1. Install OptiFine.
2. Use any other jre than the one bundled with the launcher.
3. Try to start the game. The game won't start.

Observations:

1. This is only after a recent launcher update.
2. This only affects OptiFine installations.
3. I also tried using Minecraft Forge installs but it doesn't affect it.
