Cannot connect to Mojang services (login outage)

Every time I try to log in to Minecraft, it gives the me the "Oh no! Something went wrong..." message and doesn't allow me to connect to the servers unless I use a VPN. I've never had anything like MCLeaks installed, and I have no clue as to why I would be IP banned or anything. Not to mention that most servers, after logging in with the VPN, allow me to connect to them without using the VPN. I tried reinstalling Minecraft and it gave me an error in opening the launcher for the first time. However, when I turned on my VPN, the error disappeared and I can now play normally. This started happening a couple of months ago out of nowhere and I have absolutely no clue as to why this is happening, please help.
