Launcher won't recognize I have Java

I cannot update my Java edition of Minecraft because the launcher won't recognize that I already own Minecraft: Java edition. It takes me to a demo version of the update, but I want to update my game. My computer gets no Minecraft Update notifications.

My version of Minecraft is 1.16.201

My computer is an ASUS TUF gaming computer, with an intel 17 8th generation core.
