My Minecraft Launcher Won't Open

Sometimes when I try to open my minecraft launcher, it will let me click on the icon but it won't open. And the only thing I can do to get it to open is a complete restart of my mac. I was wondering if there might be something I or the minecraft devs can do to fix it.
