I bought minecraft a few months back, but I can only play on demo mode.

Title says it all. I bought it a while back and when I try to play minecraft, it says I can only use demo mode for some reason. When I click redeem on my account, it logs me in to my already created microsoft account with the same email. Neither says I own the game. Why? This needs to be fixed.
