Launcher freezes after bigsur update on MacBook

Recently purchased MacBook and Minecraft java edition worked fine until recent update to Bigsur. Now launcher freezes and will not open game. I have uninstalled multiple times. Minecraft education edition does work without any issue? Is there any solution other than uninstalling the update?
