Just bought minecraft but launcher is unresponsive

I bought Minecraft java edition for my pc and I have Minecraft bedrock. Bedrock has always worked fine but Java wonts even start. I downloaded it and the "Minecraft Launcher" with the dirt icon appears on my pc but when I click it nothing happens. I've tried running it as an administrator and I've tried changing its properties but it doesn't work. When I click "Minecraft launcher" it just doesn't work. Also, I believe I meet all the system requirements since at one point I had Minecraft java demo version and it worked fine (I uninstalled it.) Please help. Even in task manager after I click it nothing shows up and I've also tried reinstalling it, restarting my computer, and repairing it. Just nothing happens when I click the icon.
