Unable to save/duplicate skin

I've been trying to figure out this problem for months and have yet to find a solution. Whenever I try to add a skin to the Library, it brings up an error message. It won't work on the regular launcher or the beta version. Please help, I don't want to have to go onto the website every time I want to change my skin. Thank you.
