Launcher opens and loads and goes to almost full, stops, and goes unresponsive.

Recently, I haven't been able to play minecraft on anything but the Legacy Launcher, which I don't want. I've tried looking at videos, deleting the .minecraft in the roaming files, even specific files. I've uninstalled Java and Minecraft at the same time to do a 100% clean install, and nothing. Same problem no matter what I try. Help?
