Does not Let me play Minecraft Java Edition

When I open the Minecraft Java Edition Launcher and try to run Minecraft, it loads a little and then says that the app is not responding and gives me the choice to close the app or wait for it to work. It has been doing this for the past 2 weeks and I thought it was just a bug but if it doesn't start working I will request PayPal to give me a refund.
