Not updating to Latest Release

Tried to log on to play on realms,  was on 1.16.2 as that was what my launcher said was the latest release.  Wouldn't let me saying the game needed to be up to date.  Closed game and reopened launcher, still saying 1.16.2 is the lastest release.  Tried opening and closing many times. Running the game in the snapshot version of 1.16.3 rc1 will get me to the realms page but none of the realms will open.  Tried undownloading the game and redownloading, did nothing.  Tried redownloading the launcher, did nothing, still says 1.16.2 is the most resent release.  don't know of anywhere to force it to update.
