Unable to Load Minecraft

Help. I have just purchased minecraft last night and it continues to crash no matter what. I log in through the launcher, and the mojang screen only loads a fourth of the way there, then crashes. I've tried uninstalling, rebooting, turning laptop on and off again, but to no avail. I have run out of ideas. If I cannot get it to work, I will have to ask for my money back, sadly, and I love this game. Please help me.
