Different profile versions using the new dev launcher for Minecraft developed by Mojang

When I create a new profile i give it a name and check the boxes for Snapshots, Beta and Alpha.
But I can only select "Use Latest Version", "release 1.6.2" and a modded version( which is a copy of "release 1.6.2")

Why can't I select the old versions of Minecraft?
I know this is no support on them but I want support for the launcher.
