When i open the minecraft launcher and click play the the green loading bar says *finalizing but never launches minecraft

*What I expected to happen was..*obviously i just expected Minecraft to open so i could play it normally but that didn't happen

What actually happened was.. i clicked play and the finalizing bar came up for a few seconds and disappeared and i was waiting for 10-15 minutes before i realized "Minecraft didn't open" i tried multiple times but it never launched Minecraft

Steps to Reproduce:
1. i opened the Minecraft launcher
2. then i clicked play
3. and after 10-15 minutes of waiting i realized it didn't work
