Minecraft won't let me change or create launcher profiles after I tried to download Forge

So I was trying to download Forge for the first time with no success. I then gave up on it and tried to revert my minecraft version back to 1.16.1 (the modpack I wanted to install required 1.7.10) and it was stuck on the 1.7 profile. No dropdown box with a list of my profiles, and when I tried to create a new one the dropdown list showing the game versions didn't show up at all. In fact when I tried to click it, it appeared to not even respond. I tried closing and reopening the MC launcher, logging out and in, and it was the same as before, no dropdown, non-responsive list, etc. It has been like this for about a day now. I've seen people with issues regarding not being able to change their game to a previous update for mod-related issues, but never this.
