Black screen on minecraft launcher for chrome OS running Linux

My friend successfully downloaded the Minecraft launcher on their chromebook using Linux but when it opens it's a blank black screen. They closed and reopened it and it still hasn't worked. If anyone knows a solution to this problem, please help.
