Looks like Minecraft is Launching- Progress bar start but then launcher crashes

My son already has a PC version of Minecraft.  Today we purchased one for my daughter. Everytime we click the launcher,  then click play, progress bar starts and then we get "Error, Game Crashed"  it is the same version my son is able to run successfully.
