the game stopped working

version I'm wanting to play is 1.8.9

formatted the pc and when i went to open minecraft it just opens and closes and this error appears

"the game stopped working. an unexpected problem occurred and the game stopped working. sorry."

I do not know if it is a program that is missing! please help me
