Minecraft wont start on a newly built gaming PC

I recently built my own gaming computer, with a very powerful graphics card, but When I click play on the launcher, it loads up but then nothing happens. When I go into task manager, it displays minecraft as running. I have tried un-installing it, then re-installing it but the outcome is always the same.
