windows, java Launcher stops responding

My launcher is no longer loading the game 

the launcher loads 

i select my version fine 

it loads the bar at the bottom and another screen pops up 

starts to load the new screens bar and freezes and stops responding 

this isnt the first time ive had this issue it happened a while ago on an older computer and i thought it might have been from downloading a snap shot or the windows 10 version as well i reset everything, redownloaded it and it still wouldnt open 

got my new  computer and downloaded  java edition and the same thing happened it would load so then in knew it wasnt because of the other edition or snap shot 

i gave up on play java edition for a while tryed it a few months later and it was fine it had fixed its self 

loaded the game played fine and it didnt matter was version i wanted to play everything was great even my old laptop could loaded it no idea why or how but somehow everything was fixed 

i got a relem cause due to covid 19 all by classes are online and i manged to convince my uni lecturer that i could do my assignment in minecraft and all my friends that wanted to help play java so we did it and everything was great but now my game wont load again just the same as before  and i need to fix it other wise i cant finish my uni assignment please help fast!!!

i can open the launcher fine 

ive tryed all the game versions

ive deleted and reinstalled 

shut down my computer multiple times 

tryed using both types of launcher 

updated java 

everthing i can think of ive done 

 my old laptop still runs fine however it does say that the launcher needs an update to im wondering if thats the issue but i dont want to update it and check cause its the only way i can do my assignment but the computer cant handle streaming as well so i need my new laptop back running for the final assessment.

is there a way i can back date the launcher see if that works ??
