Minecraft will not launch

Hi,

I just downloaded the Java version for my MacBook and once everything is downloaded, when I go to open the game, I get a white screen that says, "Failed to load URL mojang://java-launcher/index.html with error ERR_FAILED (-2)." I deleted everything, restarted my computer, and re-downloaded multiple times. I even tried to see if downloading on Safari versus Chrome made a difference. Is there anything I can do in order to fix this?
