Minecraft Launcher not connecting to internet

Greetings, this error struck me today suddenly despite me being able to run minecraft nicely 24 hours ago.

Firstly when I booted the game I could only see a "Play offline" option, I tried to connect to multiplayer using it and it gave me an authentication error, so I tried relogging in the launcher and when I try to log in it shows me that the Launcher can't connect to the internet, I've tried turning off Firewall / allowing launcher through it / setting "channel: beta" in the launcher_profiles.json @ game files and it is still giving me the same error, I am unable to log in  to my account and play.

Some help and light on this matter would be greatly appreciated
