Minecraft visually won't load

After I click play a fullscreen minecraft will open. However the screen is black excluding a white square in the middle where the window once was. This occurs in the minecraft game, not the launcher. After a while music is hearable, and I can even tell through audio that I'm able to click buttons on screen. The visuals will never load. I thought this might have somethig to do with my Nvidia driver. I couldn't screenshot because of fullscreen but the image is exactly what it looks like. This is not the same issue as the one in MCL-5511.
