My game keeps crashing with no specified reason.

I have just installed minecraft on Linux Ubuntu and the launcher will start up, but when I press play, it disappears. Then when I open it back up, it says "games crashed, sorry for the inconvenience" then gives me the option to close, NOTHING ELSE! Not even the weird code thing that's all numbers! I would like to know what is going on and I want it fixed!
