minecraft luancher doesnt want to go online

ive been using minecraft for a while but i when i used it one morning it said i was offline and i tried to logout and try to log back in but then it told me that i needed to be online but i tried the methods and it didnt work i heard that i needed to put a file and a mod would tell me what the problem is
