Downloaded Minecraft Java Edition (1.15.2) on new Mac. Running Mac OS Catalina. Also installed Java 8 update. My initial purchase of this edition dates to 2014. As I understand it, java does not play well with latest iterations of the Mac OS. Not sure if there is some configuration of java that I need to do, in order to get Minecraft to launch, or if there is some other issue.

 

I really just want the program to be able to launch, so that my son can play. Whatever the easiest solution is. If there is an alternate version of Minecraft that requires a purchase. I am fine with that. As long as it installs and runs without issue.
