Any minecraft version below 1.13 crashes

I'm using Ubuntu 19.10, the launcher will load correctly minecraft versions from 1.13 up to the most recent, but it will crash inmediatly if i try to play any version below 1.13, for example, 1.12.2. When i hit the play button, it will dowload the needed files and when triying to launch the game it will inmediatly return to the launcher telling me that something went wrong.

i already tried installing different versions of Java, both the Oracle's and the OpenJDK but it don't matter what version i use, it will crash the same way.
