The second I click on the skins button in the launcher it bugs

I have to go to the Minecraft website to change my skin because I can't do it in the Minecraft launcher. the second I click on the skins button in the launcher becomes completely gray and I have to exit the Minecraft launcher and enter again if I want to play Minecraft. it completely bugs out, and this makes me angry because I just bought Minecraft like 2 days ago and my cousins who've had the game for years don't have that problem.
