Past versions of Minecraft are all missing a file

I have tried to switch versions all the time. Some servers just work better and have less glitches and bugs on older versions. I have tried to use all types of old versions, yet they all have an error with a missing file. I don't know what to do. This is the error (specifically for 1.8).
