Inability to create/edit launcher profiles using different versions of the game

Trying to create a new launcher profile and attempting to change the minecraft version to a different one (i.e., 1.8.9 or 1.12.2 instead of the latest version (being 1.14.4)) does not work in the current version of the launcher.
