Game crashes Mac OS 10.14.6

Just purchased Minecraft. Beta is only options for sale. happy to run older but there is no way to switch version in launcher. Every time I click PLAY, we crash game. Tweeted Mojang. Support websites don't help.

I don't know what version the launcher is. Sorry. few options on pull-downs.
