Internet Connection Bug

Despite having being connected to the internet on my computer, my launcher doesn't seem to get a connection at all. I don't know if this is affecting anyone else or how serious of a bug it is. I tried quitting and relaunching the launcher over and over and the issue wasn't fixed, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting to the network, and I tried logging out and logging in again only for it to tell me I was offline also. Is there a fix to this? could it just be that I need to update Java?
